“So dominant…” – Rio Ferdinand praises two Man United players despite ‘disappointing’ moment
Rio Ferdinand has referred to one Manchester United duo as ‘dominant’ in big praise following the latest 3-0 victory over West Ham.
United remain unbeaten in 2024 after five games, and whilst all of those were fixtures that they should be expecting to win, it appears like progress after the start of the season that the club endured.

Erik ten Hag has faced several problems with injuries over the last few months but finally had what many consider to be his best eleven against West Ham on the weekend.
It was a convincing victory for The Reds, but Lisandro Martínez fell to injury in the game, which is a serious setback for the team.

Rio Ferdinand had an illustrious and highly successful career at Manchester United, spanning across 12 years, and he believes that Martínez and Luke Shaw offer dominance to the United team on the left-hand side.
Speaking on Vibe with Five before United’s official statement on Martinez being released, Ferdinand said: “He got a little injury. He’s done his knee. I see he tweaked it. I think that looks like ligaments. He tried to carry on and then said, ‘No, no, no I’ve got to go’. So, listen, if he’s out, it kills it.
“You can see with him and Luke Shaw on that side, when they’re together, they look so dominant, they look so confident, they look so composed with the ball. And those two are really good with the ball in terms of setting up attacks, the ball generally comes from that side.
“Any of the good stuff United do, Martinez, even you see for the first goal, he clips it in. Yes it goes to [Kurt] Zouma and he heads it down and Casemiro intercepts and we get the goal off that, but it’s because Martinez is playing forward, he’s playing forceful passes.
“So that will be disappointing. United have had so many injuries and he’s one of them that’s been out of a while and he’s probably one of their most influential players.”
