Sir Jim Ratcliffe SLAMMED for summer decision that’s caused Manchester United’s mess
Jamie Carragher has slammed Sir Jim Ratcliffe for making a decision in the summer that has contributed to Manchester United’s current mess.
Manchester United currently find themselves in 14th place in the Premier League table, with recent performances leading many to call for Erik ten Hag’s dismissal as the club’s manager.
The team has secured only two victories in their last six matches, one being an impressive 7-0 triumph over League One side Barnsley and the other a 3-0 win against Southampton, a match that could have had a different outcome had André Onana not saved a crucial penalty.

Recent draws against FC Twente and FC Porto, combined with heavy 3-0 defeats at home to Liverpool and Tottenham, have left fans questioning whether the Dutchman is the right choice to lead the club. However, a recent draw against Aston Villa has provided ten Hag with a glimmer of credit amid growing concerns.
Speaking recently, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has delved into an issue he feels has been caused by a decision made by club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier this summer.
While the new leadership team debated whether to keep the Dutchman in the summer, Ratcliffe chose to personally meet with several other potential candidates, having dinner with Thomas Frank and Thomas Tuchel.
Although the club ultimately decided to keep the Dutchman, Carragher has slammed the decision Ratcliffe made to hold meetings with other candidates as it left Ten Hag ‘out to dry’, somewhat undermining him.
“He’ll probably find it tough to get to the next international break as the manager, but if the results turn, of course, he will,” Carragher said of Ten Hag.
“At Man Utd it’s not just about results, for a long time it’s been about performances. A lot of the time, when they get results, it feels a little bit fortunate in some ways.
“Last season, Scott McTominay got so many last-minute goals for them, and you know if performances don’t improve, they can’t get sustained results.
“They might get one here or there, that’s why we love the game, unexpected things can happen. But the start of this season hasn’t been too different in terms of performances, you’re seeing the same things we saw last season.
“It’ll be tough for him, but I do have sympathy for him. He’s been hung out to dry on the back of the ownership, talking to other managers in the summer.
“No one in employment would want their bosses publicly speaking to lots of different people within the game, but it’s going to be tough for him to see out the season.”
