Sir Jim Ratcliffe sets Omar Berrada first Man United mission after Fulham defeat
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first demand for new Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has been explained following the latest defeat against Fulham.
United lost against the better team on Saturday afternoon as The Cottagers picked up all three points at Old Trafford, making top four even more difficult for Erik ten Hag and his team.
It was the worst performance from the team since the INEOS investment was confirmed, and Sir Dave Brailsford wouldn’t have been happy with several aspects of the game.
He and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be aware of the changes they must make to the club both on and off the field, and they have already brought in Omar Berrada as CEO to lead that turnaround.
The former Manchester City executive has been tasked with his first challenge at Old Trafford.
Reports from The Mirror have stated that Ratcliffe wants to be tough with the highest earners at United by introducing a bonus-led pay structure that sees players cash in if they are successful.
It is a similar strategy to the one that Berrada helped lead at City, and Ratcliffe has now handed the CEO a brief to bring in a blueprint similar to the one that has proved effective across the road.

Berrada will be tasked with keeping player salaries below a £300,000-per-week basic ceiling. However, with an important window ahead, it was added that INEOS understand there may be circumstances that require flexibility.
One of the major problems for Berrada in relation to this task is the fact that several United players are already on inflated wages. It will likely be something that takes a long period of time to lower the average wage.
Thankfully, this is the area in which Berraeda had excelled during his time at City. He was the man to say no to deals for Harry Maguire and Declan Rice when the numbers got too high.
