“Been a joke…” Sir Jim Ratcliffe branded a “disgrace” since his Manchester United acquisition
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been labelled a “disgrace” 11 months after acquiring 27.7% of Manchester United.
In December 2023, it was announced that British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe had purchased a 27.7% share of Manchester United after a one-year process following a bidding war with Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim.
As part of his purchase, Ratcliffe and his INEOS team were delegated all sporting activities and decisions. They installed several high-profile names as part of the new-look board at Old Trafford.

Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth, and Jason Wilcox filled positions such as CEO, sporting director, technical director, and a host of others.
However, the club are now sitting 14th in the Premier League table, and a number of unpopular decisions have been made at the club—over 250 employees are expected to be let go.
United recently asked Manchester City if the cross-town rivals could fly two of their players, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, to the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Clubs often have their players share flights if there is a common destination, but City denied the request because their private jet was already full and would be escorting their eight nominees to the event in France.
Ratcliffe branded “embarrassing”
Speaking to talkSPORT, former Tottenham midfielder and now prolific pundit Jamie O’Hara has had his say on Ratcliffe, slamming the United co-owner for his decisions so far.
“What is he doing? He’s a disgrace, Ratcliffe. He came in, gave it the big spuds, he’s this billionaire, and he’s going to do this and do that… he’s been a joke!” the ex-Premier League player said.
“All he’s done is get rid of 200 people. They’ve got to bring their own food in now, and now he’s trying to penny pinch on a jet for his Ballon d’Or nominees.
“Come on mate. Give us a rest, will you? Don’t tell me you’re a billionaire and you’re going to do this and that. It’s a massive loserville, that one.”
Ratcliffe has a big decision looming. Manager Erik ten Hag has failed to get his players to perform during his third season in charge at Old Trafford.
Many are calling for the manager to be sacked, but United are seemingly happy to let him continue in charge.
