Manchester United fans have questioned Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s supposed ‘long-term investment’ transfer target ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have been identifying their ideal transfer targets as they approach their first transfer window in control of Manchester United‘s sporting decisions.

Their recruitment department have identified the striker role as one of the main positions they want to recruit this summer, with Evan Ferguson as one of the priority options in this area, according to reports.

Ben Jacobs proposed that Ratcliffe and Manchester United would likely commence negotiations with an offer below the rumoured £100 million price tag, with the potential for it to increase as talks progress.

Moreover, the esteemed journalist highlighted Ratcliffe’s perspective regarding Ferguson, considering him a valuable long-term investment due to his youth and Premier League experience.

Asserting that Ferguson meets the criteria amid Old Trafford’s interest, he emphasised the potential dividends of sustained longevity at the club, ultimately justifying substantial initial investments.

However, a large section of United fans online have expressed doubt over the move, with some explaining that he is either not an upgrade on Ramsus Højlund, or that his form at Brighton has taken a huge dive.

“Fortunately he’s been terrible the last 6 months and taken tens of millions off a fee,” one fan said in reply to the news.

“Hojlund and Ferguson would be great to have but would they be happy rotating is the question,” another theorised.

A third explained: “We need someone better than Hojlund, for me Ferguson and Hojlund are rookies ,we need someone like oshimen,Halaand or inter milan Martinez.”

“Most overrated striker in the PL. He is long term investment if he cost 20M for 100M he would be worse than Anthony,” a fourth claimed.
