Morocco manager Walid Regragui has stated that Sofyan Amrabat will be “signing for a new club soon” amid interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Amrabat, 26, enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign with his country as they reached the semi-finals in Qatar before being knocked out by France.

That tournament highlighted the midfielder’s capabilities, which were also on show in Fiorentina’s 2-1 loss against West Ham in the UEFA Conference League Final at the start of June.

However, Amrabat has been sent home from international duty this week with a transfer seemingly pending for the player.

According to CalcioMercato, the Morocco manager, speaking on his decision to allow Amrabat go home, said: “I decided to let him go, he won’t play.

“He’s played a lot of games this year, I wouldn’t want to risk that, especially as he’ll be signing for a new club soon.”

United have been linked with Amrabat and the player’s brother, Nordin, has stated that Erik ten Hag is ‘charmed’ by his sibling. The Dutch boss has previously coached the 26-year-old when the pair were at FC Utrecht together.

Prior reports from CalcioMercato say that his current employers want £35 million as a fee for Amrabat and that United have showed interest. Bayern Munich have lined up the Moroccan star as an alternative option to Declan Rice and Barcelona have also held interest in the player.

Amrabat has previously stated that the intensity of the Premier League would suit his game but has not ruled out moves to other countries.

“Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league, one of the strongest in the world,” Amrabat said earlier this month.

“It would be nice to play there one day, but it’s not that I want only to go to England, because Spain is nice, Serie A is a nice league.

“Football has changed a lot, it’s more physical, you have more to be an athlete, the tempo and intensity is higher.

“Of course, in England the intensity is very high, so I think it could suit me.”
