Some Manchester United players are reportedly becoming concerned by the “calibre” of Erik ten Hag’s signings as the club continues to spiral.

Manchester United‘s 2023/24 season has been nothing short of disastrous, with the side already having lost ten games this season faster than any other season under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Erik ten Hag‘s men have been lacklustre on the pitch, and fresh reports have surfaced about the tension inside the dressing room and some of the player’s greatest concerns revealed.

According to the Manchester Evening News, some long-time members of the squad are concerned about the calibre of signings that Ten Hag has brought into the club, with one player “perplexed” by the addition of Rasmus Højlund in the summer.

Højlund signed for the club for £72 million from Atalanta and has scored five goals in the Champions League, but is yet to net one in the Premier League.

Other signings who have been questioned include Antony, Wout Weghorst, and Mason Mount, with the former and latter costing the club around £150 million in transfer fees while Weghorst was a loan.

Further to this, the report describes that some players are becoming concerned with his methods, with tactical shifts and changes leaving the players stunned and confused.

One example given is the midfield diamond that Ten Hag employed during United’s 3-1 loss against Brighton in December, where the report claims one player said it “came out of nowhere”.

There are said to be concerns within the club that the players are not motivated enough, and two of these players have been identified. Anthony Martial is thought to be a “prime” player who is not invested enough in the club to help it succeed, while doubts are starting to emerge surrounding Marcus Rashford.

Rashford has been blasted for his performance against Newcastle during the 1-0 loss last weekend, with many pundits claiming he was lazy and uninterested in the football.

Manchester United next face Chelsea in the Premier League in a bid to regather their form in the Premier League.
