Various reports have emerged that Erik ten Hag is losing players within the Manchester United dressing room.

This follows a difficult start to the season for The Reds, who have already lost ten games across all competitions.

Chances of qualification to the Champions League knockout stages are extremely slim after losing four of their opening five fixtures, whilst their performances in the Premier League have left a lot to be desired.

Ten Hag has stressed that the team need to stick together in these difficult moments and suggested that they will turn the corner soon.

However, following their latest defeat against Newcastle United — which was arguably the worst performance of the season — cracks are being said to emerge within the Old Trafford squad.

Sky Sports have reported that Ten Hag has ‘lost’ 50 per cent of the United dressing room, with his refusal to act on concerns voiced by United’s players and the continued exile of Jadon Sancho cited as factors.

And it has been revealed that it has, in fact, been a number of experienced players who have questioned Ten Hag’s approach and tactics, according to the Daily Mail, with some of those believing they have been made to train too hard this season, while others feel the manager is too authoritarian.

Ten Hag’s experienced players include the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw – some of whom are included in a ‘leadership group’ at the club.

The specific players who have been unhappy with Ten Hag are unknown, but the idea that some of those experienced players are among those is a worrying prospect for the manager.

The aforementioned report from Sky Sports added that the experienced players have spoken to the Dutchman about their other experiences of playing for big clubs, and they feel his man-management skills could be better.

It was also said that Ten Hag has lost support in the dressing room over the ongoing stand-off with Jadon Sancho.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol said: “A few of the players are also unhappy at how Jadon Sancho has been treated,” Solhekol added. “He’s got people in the dressing room who are close to him and he’s been totally frozen out because he’s refused to apologise to Erik ten Hag.

“He’s training with the kids, and he’s eating on his own. Quite a few of the players feel like that has gone too far. There’s always unhappy people in a dressing room, but when you’re losing games, there are even more of them.”

United face up against Chelsea on Wednesday evening, and Ten Hag will be facing the media on Tuesday afternoon.
