“We’re a selling club…” – Manager admits Manchester United target could leave this summer
One manager has admitted that “we’re a selling club” when discussing one Manchester United target this summer.
During last weekend’s 2-1 defeat against Arsenal, both Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro were forced off with injuries.
It has since been confirmed that Yoro will be sidelined for around three months, while Højlund is expected to miss six weeks.
Højlund, who shown great promise by scoring 16 goals in his debut season with United, is starting to raise concerns due to his injury history.
According to The Telegraph, Erik ten Hag is keen on signing another attacker after Højlund’s injury left new signing Joshua Zirkzee as the only available striker.
It was suggested that Brentford forward Ivan Toney is being considered as an option for United. However, prior reports have stated that the club would only consider Toney if his price tag falls below £40 million.
Brentford had been asking for more than that earlier in the transfer window but might reconsider to avoid losing the player for free next summer when his contract expires.
Thomas Frank was asked about the striker this week and interestingly admitted that The Bees are a “selling club” despite explaining that he is happy that Toney remains at the club at the moment.
“What I’m focusing on is that Ivan [Toney] is a Brentford player, and I’m very happy that he’s here,” he told Sky.
“If Ivan is here when we start the season, I would be over the moon. [But as] I’ve said before, we are a selling club but what I know is that Ivan is a player for us.”
Toney has scored 36 goals and provided 11 assists in 85 Premier League appearances for the London-based outfit.
