“Sackable offence…” – Man United fans furious with what Erik ten Hag did after full-time vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United fans have labelled Erik ten Hag’s actions after full-time against Crystal Palace as a “sackable offence”.
The Reds were embarrassed at Selhurst Park and lost 4-0, with Michael Olise, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell grabbing the goals for Palace.
Erik ten Hag’s side could not simply blame injuries for the defeat. While United were a disgrace on the pitch, their fans showed pure and utter class after full-time.
The club’s away support is well-known to be the best in the country and there was not a single empty seat in the away end at Selhurst Park after the game concluded. The squad applauded the fans and apologised for their performance.
“They are absolutely fantastic. Unbelievable support. The players don’t deserve it,” said Jamie Carragher of the fans.
However, as Manchester United journalist Finley King pointed out, Ten Hag was not with the squad when they thanked the away support.
“Erik ten Hag has walked down the tunnel while the players applaud the incredible away supporters,” King wrote on social media platform X.
After a torrid performance, many fans believe this action alone from Ten Hag should lead to him losing his job at Old Trafford.
One fan wrote in response, “Hopefully, I wake up to a club statement that he is gone.”
“This alone is a stackable offence itself,” another stated.
One of the match-going fans concluded: “7 hour coach journey to see us lose 4-0 to Palace and he can’t even show some appreciation to the fans #sack.”
