Ryan Gravenberch opens up on Man United interest, with possible Scott McTominay swap deal
Ryan Gravenberch has been linked to Manchester United as Erik ten Hag searches for another midfielder in the last days of the summer transfer market.
The 21-year-old midfielder worked under Ten Hag at Ajax before both leaving for Bayern Munich and United respectively last summer.
However, Gravenberch’s time in Germany has been far from successful from a personal standpoint. He started just three Bundesliga games last term and is yet to start this season either.
This has led to the Dutchman considering his options ahead of Euro 2024 at the end of this campaign.
United are interested in Sofyan Amrabat, however, could also pursue Gravenberch. It has been reported by BILD that a deal for the midfielder on loan has been discussed – with Scott McTominay heading the other way.
It was added that United want the Scotsman to leave. There has been prior interest from the likes of West Ham and Newcastle earlier in the summer.
Gravenberch would suit the playstyle Ten Hag is attempting to implement at Old Trafford better than McTominay, who started just 10 times in the Premier League last term, with a host of them coming before Casemiro bedded into the team.
The Bayern midfielder came on in the 81st minute during the German Champions’ 3-1 win over Augsburg on the weekend.
He admitted after the game, when speaking to BILD, that he is unsure what the future holds when queried on the interest surrounding him.
“I don’t know what will happen in the next days,” stated Gravenberch.
Liverpool are also a possible destination for the talented youngster, with both United and their rivals asking Bayern to be informed of the situation until the closure of the market.
