Ruud van Nistelrooy has been tipped to graduate to Premier League management, possibly at Manchester United, by a former Old Trafford teammate of his.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is a player Manchester United fans will be very familiar with. The Dutch former striker scored 150 goals in just 219 appearances for the Old Trafford club, cementing himself as one of the most prolific strikers to ever play in England.

Although he is already a club legend, the 47-year-old could further enhance his reputation at Old Trafford, as he is set to join Erik ten Hag‘s coaching staff at United.

It was rumoured that he was also offered the managerial position at Burnley earlier this summer, but he has seemingly rejected the chance to manage in the Premier League in order to join United.

However, his former teammate, Mikael Silvestre, has tipped Van Nistelrooy to eventually step up to management in the Premier League and potentially United.

“Ruud had a good campaign with PSV,” Silvestre told bettingexperts. “I think he’s suited to being a manager like most of my former teammates who are in management.

“Ruud started his trade with the youth in PSV and gradually went to the top. I think he’s got enough experience to make the jump [to Premier League management] if an opportunity was offered.”

While many fans are excited at the prospect of Van Nistelrooy’s return to the club, few are familiar with his coaching style. The man himself, however, recently explained in an interview the type of coaching he likes to employ.

“When we have the ball, I’m like yes: now we can start playing, now we can start creating,” he told The Overlap. “I have a feeling that we have the ball, and I like us to attack.

“We prepare possession to a certain moment where you’re going to hurt the opponent. That’s the reason to play possession.

“In that sense, I’m looking for the moment to speed up the attack, or go for goal, or set off another pass. That’s when I really start to tick on the sideline.”
