Revealed: Manchester United squad stance on Ruud van Nistelrooy staying after latest comments
The Manchester United squad’s stance on Ruud van Nistelrooy continuing at the club after the arrival of Rúben Amorim has been revealed.
Manchester United have appointed Ruben Amorim as their new Head Coach, following Erik ten Hag’s departure from Old Trafford.
Ten Hag’s summer contract extension was overshadowed by a tough season, with United now sitting 14th in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, leading to his exit confirmed on Monday. United quickly brought in Amorim to step into the role.

Amorim will officially take over on 11 November as the international break begins, with his first game in charge set for 24 November, an away match against Ipswich Town.
However, with Ruud van Nistelrooy currently taking charge of the team until Amorim arrives, there has been rampant speculation about his future.
What do the players think?
With many of the Old Trafford faithful keen to see the former United striker stay, the fact that Amorim is likely to bring his own coaching staff to the club has cast doubt over Van Nitselrooy’s future.
However, according to Sky Sports, the players at United want to keep Van Nistelrooy once Amorim takes charge of the squad.
This is because they feel the Dutchman is a “connector” and appreciate the way he has communicated with them since his arrival under Ten Hag in the summer.
There is yet to be any concrete decision on his future, and it is likely that this will only be taken once Amorim and Van Nistelrooy sit down face to face for discussions.
There is also support for Darren Fletcher to stay at the club, with one source telling Sky Sports, “The work Fletcher does may not be the spotlight, but it has been important.”
Van Nistelrooy’s own words
Speaking last week, Van Nistelrooy himself explained that he is open to flexibility in his role as his main objective is to stay at the club for the coming season.
Van Nistelrooy said after Sunday’s game against Chelsea that he has “enjoyed every second” of being interim boss over the past week. “I will do so for the time being.”
As for his future, he added: “I am here to help and will get behind the new manager.
“Everyone at the club is focusing on the two games [against PAOK and Leicester]. After that, we get behind him and work hard to make United better every day. I think over the coming days and weeks everything will be talked about. I’m waiting for that.”
