Ruud van Nistelrooy praises “important” Manchester United star – he’s been perfect recently
Ruud van Nistelrooy has praised an “important” Manchester United star as they defeated Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League.
In Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s final match as Manchester United’s interim manager, the Reds secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Leicester City, with Bruno Fernandes putting on a masterclass.
The captain set things in motion early on, calmly slotting past Mads Hermansen from the edge of the box after a clever backheel assist from Amad Diallo.

Just before the break, Fernandes made his mark again when his header took a deflection off Victor Kristiansen’s knee, doubling the lead for the home side.
Alejandro Garnacho sealed the win with a superb curling effort in the closing stages, with Fernandes once again the provider. Manuel Ugarte and Amad also deserve high praise for their standout contributions.
Fernandes is so important
Following the game, Ruud van Nistelrooy explained that although he felt as if his side didn’t have complete control over the tie, he praised Bruno Fernandes for his performances during his four games as interim manager.
“It was professional, you could see that players were fighting through the game,” he told BBT Sport after the game. “We scored two great goals and there were some good bits but we didn’t have real control of the game.
“It was an important three points. In the four games Bruno scored some important goals, assisting too so he is back producing. That’s the Bruno that is helping the team the most.”
Fernandes has been involved in seven of the 11 goals scored under the Dutchman, and after a poor start to the season, he’s starting to produce fantastic displays, and ha been perfect for Van Nistelrooy.
A brilliant four-game run
continuing, Van Nistelrooy explained that he’s really enjoyed the “amazing” experience of managing United, even though it was just a four-game streak. He will now hand the reigns over to Rúben Amorim.
“I really enjoyed it, it’s been a short but amazing period,” he said. “We are in an uncertain position but we tried to do our jobs and help the club which is important.
“There are a lot of feelings there, the way the fans supported me and the team always in difficult moments it was a special moment. To close down this block of games with good results and a good connection I can’t thank them enough.
“We will learn what the further plan is now.”
