Rúben Amorim’s ‘perfect’ target has ‘similar mindset’ to Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo about Man Utd transfer

A transfer that Rúben Amorim reportedly feels is perfect for Manchester United could be on the cards next summer, following the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Manchester United added four senior players to Rúben Amorim’s squad during the summer transfer window.

Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha were signed to elevate the attacking options, while Senne Lammens arrived to reinforce the goalkeeping department and has already claimed the No. 1 spot.

Despite spending over £200 million, notable gaps remain within the squad, prompting United to shift their focus toward preparations for next summer.

The midfield continues to be the biggest issue, with the club once again unable to fix their long-standing problems in that area.

Baleba continues to have Mbeumo and Cunha’s mindset

Cunha and Mbeumo were two of the most in-demand Premier League players following their stunning campaigns last season, with the former scoring 15 and the latter bagging 20 in the competition.

Still, United were able to secure both players without too much resistance from other clubs interested in them, as both of the attacking stars had expressed their desire to sign for United early in the transfer window.

With the club now in desperate need of at least one new midfielder in the coming two transfer windows, Ben Jacobs has reported that United have already strategically positioned themselves to swoop up Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, who Amorim reportedly sees as ‘perfect’, next summer.

Jacobs reported on The United Stand’s YouTube channel that Baleba has a ‘similar mindset’ to Cunha and Mbeumo, in that he is determined to join United regardless of whether they have Champions League football or not.

United have unexpected summer decision to make

United’s interest in Baleba intensified in the final weeks of last summer, with reports indicating that they had made initial contact with Brighton through intermediaries to gauge the potential terms of a deal.

The club were initially expecting to advance a move for him next summer, but contacted Brighton to see if their plans could be accelerated. However, while United were hoping to strike a deal at around the £60 million mark, Brighton stated that their asking price sat at around £100 million instead.

However, since the beginning of the season, Baleba has underperformed in a Brighton kit, while other possible targets such as Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson have shone.

There have also been reports that Anderson’s price tag at Nottingham Forest could be significantly cheaper than Baleba’s, despite outplaying him so far this season, leading some to conclude that signing the England international could be a more cost-effective deal for United.
