Rúben Amorim has spoken out on the Manchester United transfer interest in Alejandro Garnacho as Fabrizio Romano confirms Napoli’s latest blow.

Manchester United are prioritising attacking reinforcements as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle for goals.

United’s lack of cutting edge has been a persistent issue this season, with the team often failing to score more than once in matches. Their poor form at Old Trafford has only heightened concerns about their attacking output.

With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Joshua ZirkzeeMarcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho, strengthening the forward line has become a key focus ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite financial limitations, Amorim is expected to push the board to secure fresh attacking talent in an effort to resolve United’s goal-scoring struggles and revitalise the squad.

Amorim addresses Garnacho transfer speculation

In order to bring in these reinforcements this month, reports have suggested that United would have to sell Garnacho – although Amorim has now spoken out against such a deal, explaining he wants to keep the 20-year-old at United.

“I’m happy to have Garnacho here,” he told TNT Sports. “He’s improving a lot. He’s a young talented guy.

“You want to work with these guys with talent. That’s what drives the coaches to improve the team; to have these kind of players that you know they are going to improve a lot.

“In football, especially when we are in these situations, sometimes it’s hard, but I don’t want to focus on that. I’m really happy to have Garnacho playing tomorrow.”

Napoli handed a blow in their pursuit

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Serie A side Napoli have been the clubs most routinely linked to Garnacho, although there are reports that Juventus also flirted with the idea of a loan bid.

However, with United demanding a staunch £60 million, Napoli informed United that they would not bid over £42 million, and were targetting Karim Adeyemi as an alternative.

However, Fabrizio Romano has confimed that Adeyemi is now set to stay at Dortmund for the remainter of the campaign, which is a blow for Napoli as they still need to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with just days left in the window.

With Napoli no longer able to secure their second option, they may come crawling back to United following their initial ultimatum, giving United the upper hand in negotiations.
