Rúben Amorim confirms Ruud van Nistelrooy stance, gives major hint to Manchester United stars
Rúben Amorim has confirmed his current stance about Ruud van Nistelrooy, handing a playstyle hint to Manchester United stars.
A few weeks ago, Manchester United announced they had secured Rúben Amorim as their new Head Coach after parting ways with Erik ten Hag.
Though Ten Hag was handed a contract extension over the summer, a disappointing season left United languishing in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, prompting his departure two weeks ago.

The club swiftly appointed Amorim as his replacement, and Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of the team as interim boss for four games, winning three and drawing one during a period where he said he had to “stabilise the ship.”
Amorim will officially fly to England on Monday, 11 November, to begin his reign in charge of the club. His first fixture in charge is set for 24 November, away against Ipswich Town.
Van Nistelrooy’s future
Speaking to the press following his side’s brilliant 4-2 win over S.C. Braga, Amorim was asked if there was any update regarding Van Nistelrooy’s future, as it’s currently unsure if he will remain at United.
Amorim replied by confirming he understands the Dutchman’s stance as a club legend and that he will speak to him on Monday once he arrives at United.
“About a legend of the club. He did a great job,” Amorim started. “I have to talk with him tomorrow. Then I will explain everything. I am very clear and I will tell you like it is. Let’s wait until tomorrow.”
Some have since pointed out that the past tense of “did a good job” may imply that Van Nistelrooy is not expected to stay at United. Amorim will be bringing up to four further coaching staff members to Old Trafford.
A hint to the players
Amorim also hinted that he will continue with his back-three formation once he arrives at the club.
“I know how I am going to play in the beginning because you have to start with a structure that you know,” he told reporters on Sunday evening.
“Then you will adapt with the players that you have, some injuries, or no injuries, what kind of players have the abilities to defend, attack, I will discover that in the next few weeks.
“We don’t have a lot of time to train, so I have to show something that I know very well. You can take whatever you want from that.”
