Rúben Amorim has rubbished a recent claim surrounding a Manchester United transfer ‘agreement’ with a 13-word message about one of his players vs Arsenal.

Manchester United and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, with Bruno Fernandes’ superb free-kick canceled out by Declan Rice’s long-range strike.

Arsenal controlled possession early but struggled to break through. Despite that, United struck first just before half-time, as Fernandes curled a brilliant free-kick past David Raya.

United were forced into a change at the break, with Ayden Heaven replacing the injured Leny Yoro. The hosts then pushed for a second, but Raya denied Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee with outstanding saves.

Arsenal found their equaliser when Rice fired a powerful effort past André Onana. Rúben Amorim introduced Rasmus Højlund and Toby Collyer in search of a winner, but Raya’s late heroics ensured both sides shared the points.

Amorim raves about Garnacho vs Arsenal

While Fernandes has taken much of the credit for the result against Arsenal due to his free-kick heroics, Amorim also took the time to single out Alejandro Garnacho for his performance.

Garnacho started on the right-hand side of the attack, and the player’s pace and directness was on clear display, with Amorim setting up his side for transition-based football against Arsenal.

Speaking to press after the game, Amorim explained he feel it was Garnacho’s best performance yet since the head coach arrived.

“We have some good players for the transition like Garnacho,” Amorim said, speaking to media after the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

“I think with Garnacho, and we’re always talking about Garnacho, he defended really well and attacked really well.

“I think it was the best game of Garnacho since I’ve been here. He’s improving and we understood the plan quite well.”

Amorim rubbishes recent ‘agreement’ rumour

Ahead of the fixture against Arsenal, a report from Spain stated that Amorim had already decided that Garnacho was not part of his long-term plans at the club and that the club would look to sell the player this summer.

It was stated that Garnacho had found an agreement on personal terms with Atletico Madrid, and that a transfer was on the cards for £42 million this summer.

However, Amorim’s simple 13-word claim of “I think it was the best game of Garnacho since I’ve been here” shows how far this report is from the truth.

If Garnacho was no longer in his plans, Amorim would not be looking to work with the player and find a new place for him in the club’s system, and the player’s continued improvement only reinforces the notion that Garnacho is looking to stay at United.

There is still a chance the 20-year-old could leave United in the summer due to the club’s financial pressures, but it’s hard to imagine the player will be pushed out the door by Amorim considering the obvious quality he posseses.
