Rúben Amorim has disagreed with a claim made by Roy Keane following the side’s 2-0 loss against Arsenal on Wednesday evening.

Rúben Amorim tasted defeat for the first time as Manchester United head coach on Wednesday evening, as Arsenal earned a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.

United set out with a defensive game plan designed to frustrate Arsenal’s attack, and it worked effectively in the first half, though it came at the cost of offensive opportunities.

Arsenal found the breakthrough in the second half, taking advantage of United’s struggles with set pieces to score twice from corners and seal the victory.

Despite the result, there were bright spots for United, including a resilient performance from Harry Maguire and a promising debut for Leny Yoro. Amorim now faces the challenge of building on these positives while addressing the areas that need improvement.

Amorim responds to Keane’s claim

Speaking after the game, former United captain Roy Keane claimed that Rúben Amorim will be able to learn more from the loss against Arsenal than any of the three other games he has taken charge of this season.

“It’s been a mixed bag for him,” Keane stated. “Some of the games, that was obviously our toughest game tonight, and they’ve come up well shor.

“He learned more from tonight than the previous three games he’s had. Do you know what? When you see a game like that against a decent team like Arsenal, it makes you realise the big job he’s got ahead of him. Huge.”

However, speaking to press on Friday afternoon, Amorim disagreed with Keane’s notion, explaining that he can learn just as much from a win as he can from a draw or loss.

“I learn the same with wins because I focus on the performance,” Amorim explained.

“We won 4-0 against Everton but I saw so many things that were wrong. I saw the same against Arsenal. We need time to think about things.

“We don’t have much time to train and have to prepare for the next opponent, but when I see the team, I think we’re improving in some aspects.”
