Ruben Amorim has provided exciting news for Manchester United fans with an update on his ideal starting XI at Old Trafford.

After taking charge at Manchester United last month, Ruben Amorim has now managed four games at his new club.

He secured wins against Bode/Glimt and Everton, was held to a draw against Ipswich Town and lost to Arsenal on Wednesday.

In all of those games, Amorim experimented with his line-up and player positions. Marcus Rashford has started as the no.9 and behind the striker while Bruno Fernandes operated in different areas of the midfield.

The changes are partly due to the physical level of the team but also because Amorim wants to assess different members of his squad as he finds out his best eleven.

It looks like he might already have a good idea of that team after he spoke to journalists ahead of the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on the weekend.

“More or less, yes, we have an idea,” responded Amorim when asked if he knows what his strongest XI is yet.

“But then we have players returning and we have to manage the load. Bruno Fernandes, you feel it against Arsenal he was tired in the end, but you know he will recover in the end.

“If you talk about Manuel [Ugarte], I’ve known him for a long time and he needs a little bit more time.”

There will certainly still be changes to the United team in the coming weeks, with the Reds playing twice a week for several months, but Amorim is finding out more about his team.

Several players have solidified their place in the strongest line-up with their performances in recent weeks under the Portuguese boss.

However, there is still time for others to impress the 39-year-old, who is putting his trust into them as he finds out more things about their games.

“I trust in every one of them,” he added. “What I’m understanding in the training and games is each position played better. What kind of situation is better for one guy or another?

“These things I need to be close to them, and see the games in the dug-out, as you guys say, not just on TV. So I’m learning and we as a staff are learning really fast about what they’re able to do.”
