Ruben Amorim reveals two major player changes after four Man United training sessions
Ruben Amorim has revealed two major changes he will be making after his first four Manchester United training sessions.
Manchester United’s new head coach Ruben Amorim started his work on the grass at Carrington this week.
His first session came on Monday morning with a half-full squad due to players being on international duty.
After his fourth session on Thursday afternoon, the new boss spoke with the media for the first time ahead of his opening Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town.
It was quite clear when he took the job that major improvements were needed at Old Trafford, with the team currently 13th in the league table.
He has already identified some important aspects that need to be changed about the team.
“In simple things I think… If you want to speak about the team and the way we play, I think we lose the ball too often and we have to keep the ball better,” he began.
“We have to be better when we run back, I think it is clear for everybody and we have to be very good in the details.”
Those have been two of the most talked about aspects of United under previous manager Erik ten Hag. The team consistently seemed unprepared for defensive transitions.
But Amorim also stresses that it is not always major changes on the surface, but small details in these areas that need to improve.
“Sometimes, we are hoping to change a lot of things, big things, and I think it is the small things and we have to change in those small things in the football,” he added.
“Play as a team, understanding the game in one way, that is the focus so I can tell you in the small things I think I can help these players a lot.”
He will be hoping to get off to a good start against Ipswich on Sunday in what is the beginning of a demanding winter schedule for United.
