Rúben Amorim has revealed two Manchester United squad members who will travel to face Nottingham Forest as an Academy star is set to be included on the bench.
After a two-week international break, Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United return to Premier League action on Tuesday, 1 April, facing Nottingham Forest away from home.
United entered the international period in strong form, securing back-to-back wins against Real Sociedad, comfortably defeating Leicester City 3-0, and earning a solid 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Bruno Fernandes has been instrumental during this period, contributing five goals and two assists in his last three matches under Amorim.
While the Forest fixture presents a good opportunity for United to continue their momentum, Amorim will also have an eye on important upcoming clashes—the Manchester Derby and a Europa League quarter-final tie against Olympique Lyonnais.
Amorim reveals two squad members vs Forest
Speaking with club media, Amorim was asked for the latest on the injuries of a few of his returning players, and was asked by club media if any new faces will be in action against Forest following their returns.
The 40-year-old revealed that Harry Magurire will be travelling with the squad, as will Mason Mount. The latter was an unused substitute aginst Leicester two weeks ago and may see his first minutes in Red for over three months following a hamstring issue.
Amorim also explained that several others, such as Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo, are also nearing returns, but will not be with the squad on Tuesday evening.
“Harry Maguire is going to the game, Mason Mount continues to go to the game,” Amorim explained. “Luke Shaw is returning but we are doing some drills, he’s not ready yet.
“Jonny Evans is recovering, Ayden [Heaven] is recovering, Kobbie is near, so it’s very good news for us, so we are in a better moment than when we finished before this [international] break.”
Amass set for Forest inclusion
Another player who looks set to be included in the squad to face Forest is young left-back Harry Amass, who made his senior debut for United just over two weeks ago.
The club’s U18s fell to a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss against Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup on Monday evening, but Amass did not travel with the squad to Birmingham while Chido Obi did, suggesting that Amorim has saved the 18-year-old for an inclusion on Tuesday evening.
While Amass is unlikely to start as first-choice left wing-back Patrick Dorgu is once again available following a three-game ban, the young defender may see more minutes off the bench as United face Forest.
“It is an incredible experience,” Amass said following his senior debut. “I am just proud at the moment, and I think my family, everyone watching at home, will be proud of me.
“I am just grateful for the opportunity, and hopefully, there is many more to come.”
