Ruben Amorim has received a huge transfer boost ahead of the summer transfer market as one Manchester United target has been given permission to negotiate a deal.
One of Manchester United’s biggest issues in recent seasons, particularly this one, has been the lack of a reliable goal-scoring presence.
Marcus Rashford has been the only player to show any real consistency, scoring 30 goals during the 2022/23 season. However, with the England international set to leave the club after his loan spell at Aston Villa, serious doubts remain over United’s current attacking options.
Rasmus Højlund has shown promise but appears too inexperienced to be the club’s main striker, while Joshua Zirkzee seems to perform better when playing behind a traditional No.9.
As United explore potential reinforcements for Ruben Amorim’s squad, several reports have suggested that Victor Osimhen is one of their priority targets for the summer transfer window.
Osimhen given “permission” to negotiate dream transfer
According to a new report from TBR Football, United have been informed that Osimhen would be open to a summer move to Old Trafford even if they do not secure Champions League football for next term.
It was added that the Nigerian striker is focused on moving to England rather than entertain any interest from Saudi Arabia. The 26-year-old has previously said that the Premier League is a “dream” destination.
The report also supports prior information which has suggested that Napoli are willing to see Osimhen below his £65 million release clause value. He wants a transfer to be finalised early in the summer window.
Finally, it was claimed that the Italian side have given Osimhen’s representatives “permission” to start seeking a move now and negotiate with interested parties.
United must get business done early
It is a significant boost for Amorim and United that Osimhen is open to a move even if they do not win the Europa League this term.
The main attraction could be that it is so obvious the Reds need a striker that Osimhen is confident he could improve the team with his goalscoring prowess.
Importantly, as well, if United were to actually secure this signing, it would be very beneficial to get it done early in the transfer window like Napoli and Osimhen want.
Too often in recent years have United waited too long to sign players and that means they don’t get a proper pre-season with their new side.
The new regime at Old Trafford need to try and do as much work as possible so they can secure Amorim’s priority targets in time for them to adapt to the group well before the new season starts.
