Ruben Amorim provides three Man Utd XI hints for Liverpool clash, one summer signing could be benched

Ruben Amorim has provided three hints about his Manchester United line-up for their upcoming clash against Liverpool this weekend.

With the October 2025 international break now concluded, Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign with a visit to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Ruben Amorim’s side currently sit 10th in the table after winning three of their first seven matches, and there’s a quiet confidence within the squad ahead of a meeting with a Liverpool team enduring a dip in form under Arne Slot.

After opening the season with five consecutive league wins, Liverpool have since suffered three straight defeats in all competitions against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea.

United will be hoping that a strong performance at Anfield can provide the spark for a consistent run of results as they enter a crucial phase of the campaign.

Amorim provides United XI hints for Liverpool clash

United have not made many changes to the team so far this season, with several players now looking like guaranteed starters on a week-to-week basis.

The international break always has an impact on team selection, especially when some players travel half way around the world.

Casemiro and Matheus Cunha both played in Japan with Brazil and while Amorim has claimed they are ‘ready’ to play, he also suggested that their jetlag must be addressed and that suggests they could be on the bench for this game.

“The guys who went to the national teams, they are ready,” Amorim told club media. “We have to balance the rest of some because some of them played in Japan.

“So we have to address the jetlag and all of these things. But they are ready and they are really confident, I am happy to have them, so we will be ready for the game.”

Amorim would have Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount as natural replacements for Cunha and Casemiro in the team to face Liverpool, and in fact, Mount appears to be in solid form at the moment and would have probably started the game anyway.

Lammens also set to start vs Liverpool

Amorim has also provided a third hint for who will start in this game, with it looking likely that Senne Lammens will get his first big chance between the sticks.

Lammens impressed on his debut at home against Sunderland but an away visit to Liverpool is a different kind of test for a young goalkeeper.

The United boss has played down the excitement around Lammens after his debut and claimed that he will need to continue impressing in the next game, which suggests he will be starting this game.

“First impression is really important, to maintain the level is even more important, really difficult,” Amorim told the press on Friday afternoon.

“He is not Schmeichel yet. He is a young guy with talent. He showed a lot of composure, and the fans liked it, but we need to prove in the next game.”
