Rúben Amorim now agrees with Man Utd bosses on minimum Premier League finish, it would be a huge boost

Ruben Amorim’s recent success has pleased Manchester United bosses, securing three wins in a row exactly one year after Erik ten Hag’s sacking, and they have clear goals in mind.

It has certainly been a slow start for Ruben Amorim in his time as Manchester United boss, finally securing three Premier League wins for the first time in 18 months, and this has had its effect in the offices at Carrington.

Wins against Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton, with the side scoring eight and conceding just three across the last month, have given renewed hope for those closely following the side.

According to Sky Sports, the club is more reassured in their decision to stick with Amorim despite United’s initial struggles, as progress on the pitch is finally starting to take shape.

Not only with shorelines, but also with the consistent performances of United’s summer signings—Matheus CunhaBryan MbeumoBenjmain Sesko, and Senne Lammens—it is undeniable that movement in the right direction is strong for what feels like the first time under Amorim.

Amorim tidying Ten Hag’s messes

Whilst the profiles of United’s squad are nowhere near perfect, there have been major incomings and outgoings since the appointment of Amorim, with United being much harsher in the time players have to prove their worth at the club.

Notable outgoings who signed under Erik ten Hag are Rasmus Højlund to Napoli, Antony to Real Betis and Andre Onana to Trabzonspor after all of their underwhelming careers at United.

Meanwhile, it is fair to say that INEOS’s appointments have been successes in the eyes of Manchester United fans despite their daunting price tags.

A new defensive midfielder still remains as a priority in the eyes of the club, as well as the United fans, with Casemiro aging and Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte not necessarily being suited to the role.

Players such as Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba have been identified as potential targets, but it will come at a heavy cost, and United are not looking to spend big in the new year.

Where do United aim to finish?

Further, Sky Sports state that Amorim has his sights set on a place in Europe for next season, and chief executive Omar Berrada, alongside director of football Jason Wilcox, would be content if the Red Devils finish inside the top six, reinstating their place in European competition.

United are currently sat in sixth place after nine games; however, nobody at the club is getting carried away with the excitement of winning three consecutive games, including a 2-1 win at Anfield.

While finishing in European places would be a huge boost for the club, United’s progress this season could heavily depend on movement in the January transfer window.

Harry Maguire and Casemiro are both in the final season of their contracts, and their significant current impact on this United team could mean either major replacements must be signed or contract extensions are needed.

United could also be looking to move on players who are not getting sufficient game time, such as Joshua Zirkzee or Tyrell Malacia, freeing up wage space and making room for fresh faces.
