Ruben Amorim names six improvements at Manchester United after eight games in charge
Ruben Amorim has taken charge of eight games at Manchester United and has seen some improvements to the team during that time.
Manchester United have won four of Ruben Amorim’s first eight games in charge. They have lost three others and drawn once.
While the results have not been perfect, fans are clearly noticing improvements within the team as the players get used to Amorim’s style of play.
The Portuguese boss has implemented his 3-4-3 formation and introduced some completely different principles than what players were used to under Erik ten Hag.
He wants the team to control the game more and had clear problems with the physicality levels of many players when he entered the building.
Amorim names six improvements at United
However, the 39-year-old has seen some clear improvements to his side since he took charge and explained six different aspects which have gotten better after the dramatic 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night.
First of all, the United boss thinks that the team is getting better in and around the opposition’s box, which was a problem beforehand. The Reds have scored 19 goals in his first eight games.
Amorim also believes that there have been positive steps taken in terms of pace, pressing and overall physicality within the squad.
But most importantly, he sees that the players are getting used to the roles he wants them to do and that they are beginning to control games, as shown against Spurs and Manchester City.
I think we are improving near the opponent’s box,” he told reporters after exiting the Carabao Cup. “I think we had some games where we’re near the box but without a real threat.
“You could see different things today. You could see that we could shoot, we are near the goal and you feel it, you really feel it.
“I think it is a good thing in our team, I feel like our team is faster, are pressing more, the physicality is improving, the understanding of the game and you can see it from the controlling of the game and you see it more, especially in this game but also in the last game.
“We understand more the position and the movement we should do. So there’s a lot of things, these are the good things but we are out and lets focus on the next competition.”
United’s improvements are clear to see
Despite the results so far, many United fans are behind Amorim and his ideas and it is not only down to him being the new face in charge.
Instead, as fans, we are able to see these improvements with our own eyes and the explanations from Amorim about what needs to change and improve helps supporters visualise how he will solve problems.
Under Ten Hag, it almost felt like blind trust for the most part because we were unable to see major improvements on the pitch and he couldn’t explain to the press what he was actually going to do to fix the issues.

United are now slowly starting to control games and we can see players starting to understand their roles and responsibilities better.
Mistakes are still happening and the team has some square pegs in round holes, but there seems to be optimism that Amorim can keep improving this team and make them competitive once again.
