Ruben Amorim must start “very good” Manchester United star in different position vs Everton

Manchester United face a tough test as they travel away to Everton this weekend and Ruben Amorim must make a key change to his team.
Ruben Amorim has faced a tough challenge since taking over at Manchester United, struggling to spark a turnaround in the team’s fortunes.
United currently sit 15th in the Premier League, grappling with inconsistency and a lack of stability in their form.
In his 21 matches at the helm, Amorim has managed just 10 wins, alongside two draws and nine defeats.
The Portuguese head coach has several pressing issues to address in the coming months if he hopes to improve the situation at Old Trafford.
In the forefront of his mind will be the trip to Everton on Saturday afternoon, where United will face a rejuvenated team who are unbeaten in their last five Premier League fixtures.
United struggling in the final third
Perhaps the biggest issue for Amorim’s team right now is their lack of killer threat in the final third, with just 28 goals scored in the league so far this season.
That problem has become even more significant since Amad was ruled out for the rest of the campaign with an ankle injury which may need surgery.
The Ivorian was the only forward player who seemed to have the confidence and quality to deliver inside the penalty box.
Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee have all had their own struggles in front of goal, with the Argentine getting criticism for missing a gilt-edged chance last time out against Tottenham Hotspur.
Fernandes should move back into front three vs Everton
Amorim has regularly used Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role than he would usually prefer, and it has worked to a degree in certain games.
The United captain can use his excellent range of passing and be more involved in the game at points, and importantly it also allows another offensive player to be in the team.
Ideally, this is something that United use when they can dominate games and Fernandes can still be involved in the final third.
However, right now, he is being ran ragged in the midfield and it seems like Amorim needs to reintroduce the Portuguese star in the front three. One of his last games there came against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw, where Arne Slot described his performance as “very good”.
Fernandes is the only player in the United squad right now you can hang your hat on to deliver consistently in the final third. It was him who delivered a chance on a plate for Garnacho last time out.
United need him in those positions more and placing him further up the field and beefing the midfield up with someone like Toby Collyer or Casemiro should be the way forward.
Fernandes picked up some solid form after Ruud van Nistelrooy placed him closer to goal during his interim spell. Amorim needs to do the same as United struggle for inspiration in the final third.
