Bruno Fernandes was among a group of Manchester United players to react to Marcus Rashford’s loan departure to Aston Villa.

Manchester United have confirmed that Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 27-year-old forward had not featured for United since early December after expressing openness to a new challenge in his career.

During his absence, Ruben Amorim’s side has struggled in front of goal, with only Amad and Bruno Fernandes scoring more Premier League goals than the No.10.

Rashford has endured a difficult spell at United over the past two years, with many fans and pundits—including club legend Wayne Rooney—suggesting that a move would benefit him.

After links to the likes of Barcelona and Napoli, Rashford is joining a Villa side competing for a top-four finish and in the Champions League knockout stages after Unai Emery pushed for the move.

Rashford reacts to Villa loan move

Rashford’s move to United’s Premier League rivals was announced on Sunday evening.

He will be able to make his debut for Villa next weekend in the FA Cup against Tottenham Hotspur as he did not play in United’s third-round clash against Arsenal.

The 27-year-old forward has taken to Instagram to react to the move, saying: “I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.

“I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the managers’ ambitions.

“I just want to play football and am excited to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.”

Fernandes among United players to react to Rashford exit

It did not take long for players at United to react to the news. Fernandes and Leny Yoro were two of the first to like Rashford’s post on Instagram.

Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee both commented on the post, with the Argentine writing: “All the best Rash!👑🙌🏽”

Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs de Ligt were among the others to like the post, while ex-Reds Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka did so too.

Sancho also commented: “He’s back! 🤞🏼❤️” while Wan-Bissaka added a salute and heart emoji.

Former United striker coach Benni McCarthy added: “All the best Young King 👑 👏🏽”

Villa are reportedly set to be covering at least 75 per cent of Rashford’s wages while on loan, and they also have the option to buy the English star for £40 million at the end of the season.
