Rúben Amorim is set to give in to Manchester United fans’ demands once his team faces Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United are gearing up for a return to Premier League action in the coming days as they face Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

The two clubs have already met in North London this season, with a rather stunning 4-3 fixture going the way of the home side as Rúben Amorim’s men were knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Both sides have trodden down a similar path so far this campaign, with the two “Big Six” Premier League teams sitting 13th and 14th in the table, with Spurs two points behind United.

The upcoming fixture will no doubt be a tense affair as a loss for United would hamper Amorim’s progress with his new squad, while a loss for Tottenham would increase calls from fans to sack manager Ange Postecoglou.

Amorim to install Dorgu position change

United’s last game was a 2-1 win over Leicester City, where Harry Maguire’s last-minute header secured a place in the next round, where the club will face Fulham at Old Trafford.

While a lot of the talk after the game was that Maguire was offside for his winning goal, fans also pointed out how odd it was that Amorim chose to play new signing Patrick Dorgu on the right hand side rather than as left wing-back.

The Danish international played 45 minutes on the right flank before being replaced by Alejandro Garnacho, but many feel he would be better utilised on the left hand side, with fans and ex-players alike demanding a change.

According to Manchester Evening News, despite Amorim’s decision to start Dorgu on the right, it’s expected that the 20-year-old will be a left-sided player in the long-term.

Dorgu’s change may come against Spurs

When United faced Tottenham in the Carabao Cup late last year, it was a thrilling encounter that almost saw United fight back from 3-0 down to win the tie, although a blunder from Altay Bayındır saw Spurs clinch the victory.

However, it was self-evident at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that Postecoglou’s team struggled to handle United’s left flank, with Bruno Fernandes making multiple good runs into space.

Although Dorgu was applied on the right against Leicester, it was clear that he is a player who enjoys running into open grass ahead of him, and if Spurs set up similarly to last time, Dorgu could thrive on the left.

Suppose the Denmark player starts on the left and sticks wide. In that case, he will be afforded plenty of time on the ball and could supply the forward line with creative passes, and considering how well Garnacho performed in the second half, the pair could be very dangerous on Sunday afternoon.
