Rúben Amorim has suspension risk and three Manchester United stars unavailable vs Bournemouth
Rúben Amorim will be unable to deploy three players and faces a suspension risk as Manchester United host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United squad are gearing up for a return to Premier League action as they look to climb from 13th place in the standings.
In their most recent match, United exited the Carabao Cup at the quarter-final stage following a dramatic 4-3 loss to Tottenham Hotspur. While the defeat was a setback, the team’s performance showcased encouraging signs.
In the league, United head into their next game on the back of an electrifying 2-1 win over arch-rivals Manchester City. Late heroics from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo turned the tide in their favour, securing a memorable victory.
United will now face Bournemouth at Old Trafford, aiming to close the six-point gap to Nottingham Forest, who currently hold the final Champions League spot.
Amorim has three players unavailable vs Bournemouth
On Thursday evening, centre-back Victor Lindelöf was visibly upset after he had to exit the Spurs game after 43 minutes after sustaining an injury during the first half, indicating that he may not be available for a sustained period.
“I think he has something that we have to assess to say specifically what he has, but it’s tough to lose a player,” the head coachsaid when asked about Lindelöf’s issue.
Meanwhile, Amorim will also be without fellow defender Luke Shaw, with some reports suggesting that the left-back will not be available until later this month.
Matthijs de Ligt had to miss the Spurs result due to an illness, but this is not expected to a major issue, and he may well be back in contention for selection on Sunday.
Mason Mount is also unavailable after suffering yet another injury last weekend, with Amorim confirming that he will be out for multiple weeks.
“Several weeks,” he said when asked for an update. “I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long and that’s it. It’s part of football, and you continue.”
It should also be noted that Harry Maguire is at risk of a Premier League suspension as he has picked up four yellow cards in the competition this season. If he receives any more before gameweek 20, he will serve a one-game ban.
For Bournemouth, Thomas Frank has five players who have missed recent games due to injury.
Alex Scott, Julian Araujo, Luis Sinisterra, Marcos Senesi, and Marcus Tavernier appear unlikely to be available to play at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
