Why Rúben Amorim will not start Manchester United job tomorrow despite club announcement
Rúben Amorim will not start work as Manchester United’s new head coach tomorrow despite the club’s announcement two weeks ago.
Manchester United have officially appointed Ruben Amorim as their new Head Coach, following Erik ten Hag’s departure from the club.
Despite extending ten Hag’s contract in the summer, United’s poor run of form this season saw them fall to 14th in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, leading to his exit two weeks ago. The club moved quickly to bring in Amorim as his successor.

Ruud van Nistelrooy managed the four games since, winning three and drawing one, although his long-term future at United is currently unclear.
Although the initial club announcement stated that Amorim will officially take over on 11 November, and his first match in charge is scheduled for 24 November, this will not happen.
Why Amorim will not start yet
According to the Daily Mail, Rúben Amorim can no longer start work at United on Monday, 11 November because there are still work permit issues that need to be sorted.
“Ruben Amorim won’t be able to officially start his new job at Man Utd tomorrow because he is still waiting for a work permit,” Mail journalist Chris Wheeler explained.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Amorim will fly to England tomorrow (Monday), and although his visa is not yet approved, this is expected to be finalised soon.
He can only take charge of training sessions at the club once his United Kingdom work visa has been processed. He has several players at his disposal before those who have embarked on international duty return, meaning he will be keen to see his work visa finalised as soon as possible.
United’s initial announcement
“Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements,” an initial club statement read.
“He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.
“Rúben is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football. Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.”
