Rúben Amorim has called for Manchester United fans to stop chanting his name and instead sing about his players in the coming games.

Following a thumping 4-0 win over Everton on the weekend, Rúben Amorim will face Arsenal in the latest test as the new Manchester United head coach.

Amorim has guided his Old Trafford squad to two wins and a draw in his opening three games at the club, sparking a sense of belief back into the club following a disaster start to the season under Erik ten Hag.

United are set to face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates, with both sides coming off the back of big wins following the London club’s 5-2 victory over West Ham.

United currently sit 9th in the Premier League table, but are just four points off Brighton, who sit 4th in the league, occupying the lowest of the Champions League qualification spots.

Amorim’s chant

Speaking to the press on Monday evening, Amorim has lightly called for United fans to stop chanting his name at matches and instead cheer on those on the field.

United fans have been affectionately singing the new head coach’s name during his opening three games, which United attempted to recreate on X below.

“I don’t like my chant,” he explained. “I feel a little bit embarrassed because I’m the coach, they have to chant for the players and the club.

“I understand, really appreciate the connection, but I want them to support the team, they are on pitch. I am really honoured.”

However, if he builds a winning side, somehow I feel the chant will not go away…
