Ruben Amorim made outstanding claim after Brentford defeat, Manchester United fans are stunned

Manchester United were beaten 3-1 by Brentford on Saturday afternoon which means Ruben Amorim still hasn’t won back-to-back games at the club.

Manchester United made a disastrous start to the game and trailed 2-0 inside 20 minutes. Ruben Amorim’s men were punished for sloppy mistakes but responded when Benjamin Šeško struck midway through the first half to halve the deficit.

In the second half, the visitors struggled for urgency but were awarded a penalty after Bryan Mbeumo was hauled down by ex-teammate Nathan Collins.

While the spot-kick was clear, many argued Collins should also have seen red as he made no attempt to play the ball. VAR reviewed the incident but chose not to send Craig Pawson to the monitor.

Bruno Fernandes saw his penalty saved after a long delay, and Brentford sealed the points with a late third goal.

Amorim made outstanding claim after Brentford defeat

After the game, Amorim was asked about the formation in his press conference and hit back with a claim that shocked supporters.

“It’s always the same. When we win, it’s not the system and when we lose, it’s the system. I understand that,” the United boss replied.

One fan wrote in response: “We rarely win and when we do, its red cards or dumb luck. We actually reached the EL final with red cards in every tie.”

Another added: “If not system then what is it? sooner or later his stubbornness is going to get him sack…”

“What wins is he even talking about? Scrappy wins playing awful football. Just f*cking sack this clown already,” a third wrote.

Amorim’s formation has regularly come into question during his tenure at Old Trafford and he regularly defends the shape, but this claim felt too strong considering the lack of credit he has in the bank.

Amorim can’t continue hiding from formation criticism

Sometimes, two things can be right at the same time. Amorim’s formation has come under the microscope more often than it should’ve done, but he also can’t deny the problems with his tactics.

Fernandes was making forward passes to Matthijs de Ligt against Brentford so that the Dutchman could progress the ball. There is something fundamentally wrong with your setup if that is the case.

Amorim gets emotional after games but he cannot continue hiding away from the fact that his ideas are not working right now.

He has to make change or United will be searching for a new manager soon.
