Rúben Amorim has issued injury updates on several Manchester United players as he confirms that Kobbie Mainoo is close to returning to action.
After a two-week international break, Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United return to Premier League action on Tuesday, 1 April, travelling away to Nottingham Forest.
United had built impressive momentum before the break, earning back-to-back victories against Real Sociedad, easing past Leicester City 3-0, and securing a solid 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Bruno Fernandes has been key to United’s recent success, scoring five goals and providing two assists across his last three appearances under Amorim.
While the match against Forest presents a strong opportunity to continue their fine form, Amorim will also have an eye on upcoming crucial fixtures, including the Manchester Derby and a two-legged Europa League quarter-final against Olympique Lyonnais.
Amorim confirms Heaven injury update
Speaking to the press on Monday afternoon ahead of the Forest tie, Amorim issued updates on eight Manchster United players.
The 40-year-old confirmed that although Luke Shaw is not ready to return to action for the Tuesday tie, Kobbie Mainoo is “almost ready” to return, and Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are both available.
“Luke is not ready yet. We are starting doing some drills with the team, but we are building Luke,” he said. “Mason Mount is feeling better, but he was on the bench in the last game. Kobbie is almost ready, Jonny [Evans] is recovering, Licha [Martínez] is out. Maguire is also ready to go to the game, and Yoro, yes.”
Amorim was also asked about Ayden Heaven, who suffered an injury against Leicester. Thankfully, the young centre-back appears to be able to return to action sooner than expected.
He added: “It is not so serious. He is recovering, he is not yet ready to play but he will return this season, for sure.”
