Rúben Amorim has explained exactly what Manchester United fans will see against Ipswich Town amid a report about his plans for Marcus Rashford.

Rúben Amorim has officially taken over as Manchester United’s new head coach, following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal last month.

Although the club announced his appointment two weeks ago, Amorim was unable to begin his duties until now due to complications with his release clause from Sporting CP.

During this delay, Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped in as interim manager, securing three wins and a draw, which helped United climb the Premier League and Europa League standings. However, they still sit 13th and 15th, respectively.

Amorim, 39, faces a formidable challenge ahead, but he has finally arrived in Manchester and is set to lead his first training session early next week.

Amorim’s Ipswich “idea”

Speaking to club media in an exclusive first interview, Amorim revealed exactly what he feels Manchester United fans will see once he takes charge of the side for the first time, playing against Ipswich in the Premier League next weekend.

“I think you will see an idea,” the new head coach explained. “You could like it or not, I don’t know, but you will see an idea.

“You will see a positioning. You will see something that we want to reach that kind of level. You will feel that.

“We have to know that it’s like two trainings before the first match. This is the best league in the world. But if I have to say something to you, [it’s that] you will see an idea. This I can guarantee.”

His Rashford plan

Reports earlier this week has claimed that Rúben Amorim has a plan to help struggling winger Marcus Rashford revive his form.

According to the report, Amorim is ready to test Rashford as a lone striker in his famed 3-4-3 formation, which will give him an early chance to impress during his opening games at the club.

Rashford has previously excelled in the role, but only when it has specifically suited the opposition’s weaknesses, such as leaving large gaps behind the defence for Rashford to run into.

There is, of course, the extra problem of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee both being first-team strikers. Regardless of who Amorim players, he has a lot of firepower already in his new squad.
