Ruben Amorim ‘impressed’ by £28,000-a-week star after delving into Man Utd footage

Ruben Amorim has been ‘impressed’ by one £28,000-a-week Manchester United star after he started delving into footage of his squad.

Manchester United are gearing up for a demanding winter schedule under new head coach Ruben Amorim, featuring pivotal matches against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Currently 13th in the Premier League, Amorim’s focus is on enhancing team performances and narrowing the four-point gap to the top four.

After beginning his role last week, the 39-year-old conducted his first training session at Carrington on Monday, following visa approvals for him and his staff.

Amorim dives into footage, impressed by Amad

According to a report from from GiveMeSport, new head coach Amorim has already started analysing his squad in depth at Old Trafford.

The 39-year-old has started delving into video footage of United’s games to try and familiarise himself with the qualities of those within his squad.

The report claims that Amorim has already started getting some good insight into his players, with two training sessions under his belt as well, and he has already taken a liking to Amad Diallo.

Amad won the club’s Player of the Month award in August before being demoted to the bench until Ruud van Nistelrooy took interim charge.

He was one of United’s brightest sparks in their most recent two fixtures, with two goals and an assist in those games, and received praise from Van Nistelrooy for his patience.

Amorim has been impressed with what he has seen from the 22-year-old, the aforementioned report adds, and there is a strong chance that he will ‘feature prominently’ in the starting XI, including against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Amad was operating in one of the no.10 roles in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system during his first training session in charge of the team. He is comfortable coming inside from the right and it looks like that could be his position going forward.

New contract coming for Amad?

Amad’s current deal at Old Trafford runs out at the end of the season but United do have an option to extend the contract for another 12 months.

However, multiple reports have stated that the Reds are planning to negotiate new terms with the 22-year-old and Amorim’s stance on him will only strengthen that position.

Amad currently earns around £28,000-a-week, a similar amount to Kobbie Mainoo, who is also set to be offered a new deal.
