Ruben Amorim identifies two key Man United players for rebuild, he considers one a ‘generational talent’
Ruben Amorim has identified two key players for his Manchester United rebuild, and considers one of them a ‘generational talent’.
Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s new head coach, was welcomed to the club at the beginning of this week.
He arrived at the Carrington training complex on Monday, where he was greeted by Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and Dan Ashworth.
On Tuesday, Amorim met with several United players, including Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo, as he prepares for his first match in charge.
This game will be against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on November 25th at the newly promoted team’s stadium, Portman Road.
Many are expecting Amorim to help many underperforming stars to find their form, while transfers in upcoming windows are also anticipated.
Recent reports have stated that Amorim sees Mason Mount as a potential key player in his new 3-4-3 system at Old Trafford.
Mount has had major difficulties since moving to the club in the summer of 2023 but played his best football in a three-at-the-back formation under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.
Meanwhile, according to Fabrizio Romano, the new United boss and his staff consider Leny Yoro as one of the ‘most interesting’ players for the long-term project he has.
Yoro joined the club in the summer transfer window from Lille but is yet to make his competitive debut after suffering an injury in pre-season.
The report adds that Amorim and his staff completely agree with the club’s assessment of the French defender being a ‘generational talent’ – suggesting a key role for him once he is fully fit.
Yoro would likely operate on the right side of Amorim’s back three, with Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez occupying the other positions in the defence.
