Manchester United’s chiefs are expected to make major changes to Ruben Amorim’s squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.
It is quite clear that Manchester United’s squad is in need of desperate improvements in various areas and several signings are expected in the summer.
Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap are already being chased as potential additions to bolster Ruben Amorim’s underperforming frontline at Old Trafford.
The club are also set to try and strengthen in midfield and at wingback, while several players sales are expected to help generate funds for those incomings.
Some players also have their contracts expiring at the end of the season, with no new terms set to be signed for any of them.
Amorim has three replacements for departing United trio
Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen all have their contracts at United expiring in the coming months and various reports have claimed there are no plans for any extensions.
United’s senior squad is already quite thin and even though these players aren’t good enough to stay at the club, you certainly need those extra bodies in the building.
A replacement for Heaton may be searched for in the transfer market as it isn’t beneficial for young goalkeepers to be the third-choice goalkeeper.
However, the other three players should all be replaced by some of the young players at Carrington.
Ayden Heaven has already proved in a handful of senior appearances that he is ready to contribute. Meanwhile, there are several other young defenders who can fight to provide that extra depth.
Tyler Fredricson made an amazing impression on his debut against Wolves and Godwill Kukonki is also highly-rated at the club. Those young defenders can easily fill the void of Lindelöf and Evans departing, while Jack Moorhouse should also be considered for more first-team minutes in place of Eriksen.
The Dane has mostly been stationed as one of the no.10s in Amorim’s system and that is a position which could suit Moorhouse, who is considered as one of the best ball-carriers within the Academy.
Amorim should have confidence to bring through Academy talent
Amorim has slowly been integrating many youth players into the setup at Old Trafford, with Harry Amass, Chido Obi and Fredricson making debuts under the Portuguese boss so far.
These young talents can be extremely useful to a squad that needs freshening up, and can save the club the worry of having to replace the likes of Lindelöf and Eriksen with signings.
Being able to trust and develop a handful of youngsters to become squad players would allow Amorim to focus on bolstering the priority positions and strengthening the first eleven.

The likes of Amass and Obi have shown that they can compete in the squad and actually provide improved performances than the ‘experienced’ players they are alongside.
That should give Amorim the confidence to bring someone like Moorhouse into the first-team picture on a more permanent basis next term.
