Ruben Amorim has detailed plan for Chido Obi-Martin after receiving ‘rave reviews’ of Man Utd starlet
Ruben Amorim has a detailed plan for Chido Obi-Martin after he received ‘rave reviews’ of the Manchester United starlet.
Manchester United’s new head coach Ruben Amorim is getting settled at Carrington after taking his first session on Monday afternoon.
The 39-year-old is looking ahead to his first Premier League fixture this weekend against Ipswich Town ahead of a busy winter period.
Amorim’s appointment has brought much excitement for a variety of reasons, including his well-known use of youth talent.
United have some great prospects in their academy, with Chido Obi-Martin being one of the standout starlets after his summer move from Arsenal.
The 16-year-old striker scored 32 goals in the U18s Premier League for the Gunners last term and has started strongly for the Reds this season.
Amorim’s plan for Chido Obi-Martin
According to a new report from GiveMeSport, Amorim is expected to fast-track Obi-Martin’s development at Old Trafford after receiving ‘rave reviews’ of the 16-year-old.
United’s youth coaches have been waxing lyrical about the 16-year-old who scored a 14-minute hat-trick in his first start for the club’s under-18s side.
It was added that technical director Jason Wilcox, director of academy Nick Cox and first-team coach Darren Fletcher have all spoken to Amorim about the young striker.
In order to prepare Obi-Martin for senior football, he will be integrated into some more fixtures for the under-21s and will also gain experience by participating in first-team training at Carrington.
Youth already being used
Amorim is reportedly expected to utilise the academy more than Erik ten Hag did during his time at the club and several young talents already took part in his opening session.
16-year-old Jim Thwaites and his age-mate Godwill Kukonki were among those to have participated after strong starts to the season with the under-18s.
Amorim provided 27 debuts to academy talents during his time at Sporting and those young players will be eager to impress him in the coming months.
Obi-Martin will certainly be one of those.
