Rúben Amorim delivers Bruno Fernandes transfer verdict as Al Hilal ‘engage in talks’ for Manchester United star

Rúben Amorim has already expressed his opinion on selling Bruno Fernandes as the player’s representatives reportedly hold talks with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

Manchester United are aiming to raise significant funds this summer as the club look to completely reshape Rúben Amorim’s current Old Trafford squad.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS delegation are reportedly looking to sanction at least ten sales of senior players, with many leaving as their contract expire or deemed not fit for the future under Amorim.

With those such as Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans leaving at the end of June, others like Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are all set to be sold in deals that could total well over £100 million.

However, there are many players whose futures remain in question, with uncertainty surrounding the likes of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho amid United’s need to ease financial pressure.

Fernandes’ representatives engage in Saudi talks

The push from Saudi Pro League sides to secure top-level talent in a bid to attract worldwide viewers has seen many, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and Karim Benzema, relocate to the Middle East.

With Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal set to compete in the 2025 Club World Cup this summer, they have become the main represnetivies of the league during the inaugural season of the competition, and are looking to secure high talent as a result.

According to Saudi Arabian journalist Abdullah Al-Hanyan, who works for Al-Riyadiya newspaper, Al Hilal’s management met with Bruno Fernandes’ lawyer, Caetano Maria, and agent Miguel Robin.

It is claimed that the Saudi side want to sign Fernandes before the Club World Cup, which is due to commence on 14 June.

Amorim has made Fernandes’ transfer feelings clear

Despite Al Hilal’s interest, it seems unlikely that the Saudi side will be able to prize Fernandes away from Old Trafford this summer.

Of course, a transfer of his magnitude could never be ruled out entirely as, owing to United’s financial troubles, a mega bid of well over £100 million could tempt the club to sell, but with Fernandes fully focused on United, it seems borderline impossible that a deal could be made.

Amorim has been very clear with respect to Fernandes’ transfer status, explaining a month ago that Fernandes leaving is simply out of the question.

“No, it’s not going to happen,” Amorim told reporters in late March.

“I want Bruno here because we want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players,” he continued. “He’s [30] but still so [fit], plays 55 games every season and between assists and goals he’s there for 30 at least, so he’s not going anywhere.”
