Roy Hodgson has issued a complaint in relation to the comparisons between Manchester United and Crystal Palace ahead of their Carabao Cup tie.

Between Manchester United and Crystal Palace, the two clubs are both suffering from somewhat of an injury crisis.

Both Erik ten Hag and Roy Hodgson have multiple players out, and the Palace manager was quoted as complaining about his lack of players ahead of the tie.

“I can’t attack the Carabao Cup as I intended to do because I don’t have any players,” Hodgson confessed last week. “I’m worried about Edouard’s hamstring. At the moment when I find out a player is out for three weeks, I’m relieved it’s not three months.”

However, now he has issued a second complaint, this time about the size and stature between the two clubs ahead of their knock-out tie.

“We’re talking about one of the two biggest clubs in the world,” Hodgson said ahead of the tie.

“So, even if they’re not operating at full capacity, they’ll still have a bench that costs maybe several hundred million, whereas our bench may contain a few players who have not played a single Premier League match.”

The two teams will face off at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening as Ten Hag starts his defence of the Carabao Cup trophy that his squad lifted in February, defeating Newcastle United 2-0.
