Manchester United’s nightmare season has finally ended, with boss Ruben Amorim promising fans that the worst is behind them.
Manchester United have had their worst Premier League campaign ever this season, with the team finishing 15th and being without European football for only the second time since 1990.
It has undoubtably been a hard time for fans, with supporter’s dreams of Champions League qualification dashed by last weeks loss in the Europa League final to Spurs.
There have however, been moments of promise from this United team, with the most recent being today’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on the last day of the Premier League, a result few would have expected.
After full time, manager Ruben Amorim took to the pitch, alongside his squad, to thank the fans for their support during this difficult period, and assure them that brighter days are coming.
Ferdinand backs Amorim after rousing speech
Stood at the halfway line in Old Trafford, surrounded by his squad, Amorim delivered his speech to the masses. He said: “Six months ago, in my first three games in charge, with two victories and one draw, I said to you the storm is coming.
Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you the good days are coming. If there is one club in the world that proves in the past that it can overcome any situation, any disaster, it’s our club, it’s Manchester United Football Club.”
Whether it was down to the result or the speech, the crowd at Old Trafford seemed in high spirits, with many fans determined to back Amorim despite the lack of consistency this season.
Another star who clearly favours the 39-year-old gaffer is ex-player Rio Ferdinand, who posted a video of the speech on his X account, praising Amorim with two simple emojis, clapping hands and a love heart.
Fans will be hoping the ‘storm’ is definitely over
With this season now behind them, United and Amorim have time to rebuild and resettle, with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

Many names have been tipped to join the Red Devils, such as Wolves’ standout player Matheus Cunha and star Ipswich striker Liam Delap.
On the other hand, a number of big names are also set to leave the club, such as the on-loan Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, amongst others.
Whatever happens, fans will be hoping Amorim doesn’t make the same mistakes of previous years, buying big names who won’t fight for the club. United need talent that will work for the badge and for the manager, hopefully securing Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s goal of a top 6 finish next season.
