Rio Ferdinand has sent an exciting four-word message to one Manchester United star who is closing in on a return to action.
Manchester United have made a slow start to their Premier League campaign, currently sitting 10th after seven games.
Ruben Amorim’s men would have expected a more convincing beginning to the season, but their performances to date have largely failed to meet expectations.
There have been some standout performers, with Matthijs de Ligt and Bryan Mbeumo impressing during their time on the pitch.
But there are plenty of players who need to show improvement in order to see United finally get some consistent results and to climb the table.
Ferdinand sends exciting four-word message to United star
Luke Shaw has been the regular starter at left centre-back but the favoured option for that role is Lisandro Martínez.
The Argentine has been out of action for a significant period of time after suffering an ACL injury midway through last season.
But Martínez is making solid progress in his recovery and the defender was spotted arriving at Carrington this week as he moves closer to a return to action.
In response to the club’s post of Martínez’s arrival, United legend Rio Ferdinand replied with the message: “Love to see it!”
Ferdinand, like many supporters, clearly feels that Martínez’s return will help United, with his aggression and ability on the ball unmatched by the other defenders at Old Trafford.
Martínez is near returning, says Amorim
Martínez will not be available for the clash against Liverpool this weekend but Amorim has explained that he is nearing a return to action.
“Licha is not available,” Amorim said. “He is near but he is just returning to training with the team.”
It will be a boost for United when the defender is back in action but Amorim will certainly not rush him back into the team.
As we have previously seen with the likes of Shaw and Mason Mount, the United boss treads carefully with players who have had reoccurring or serious injuries and Martínez’s biggest priority is remaining fit for the long-term.
