“Please accept…” Rio Ferdinand sends Manchester United target he “loves” a personal plea
Rio Ferdinand has sent a personal plea to one of Manchester United’s summer transfer targets that he “loves” as the club sees a bid accepted.
According to recent reports, Manchester United have seen a bid of £42 million plus bonuses accepted for 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro.
News from France claims that United have submitted a “written offer” for Yoro, totalling around £42 million plus unspecified bonuses. Lille has accepted this offer, as it is significantly better than Real Madrid‘s bid, which is still far from being finalized.

However, Yoro prefers a move to Madrid over any other club, posing a major challenge for Manchester United. Despite this, the Red Devils are making efforts to persuade the player to switch from Ligue 1 to the Premier League.
The accepted bid will be music to the ears of Manchester United legend and former defender Rio Ferdinand, who has explained that he would “love” Yoro to join the ranks at Old Trafford.
However, Ferdinand went a step further, pleading with the player to sign for United over Real Madrid this summer, comparing the younger to Arsenal’s William Saliba.
“There’s an 18-year-old, I’d love him to come to Manchester United,” Ferdinand told his YouTube channel FIVE.
“If you’re watching Leny Yoro, please accept Man United,” the former defender pleaded. “Man United, please make the offer and please accept because, with this kid, his ceiling is as high as anybody right now, [William] Saliba included.
“Physically, he’s not as developed (as Saliba), but he’s a different type of centre-half. He’s quick, he tries to nibble and get in front. He can play. He’s tall and mobile.”
United are aiming to sign two centre-backs this summer, with the club close to a deal for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. They have also shown great interest in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, but all approaches for the 21-year-old have been rejected so far.
