Rio Ferdinand says what all Manchester United fans are thinking in two-word reaction to Crystal Palace loss

Rio Ferdinand has said what all Manchester United fans are thinking after Rúben Amorim’s side fell to a 2-0 loss against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United suffered their 11th Premier League defeat of the season as Jean-Philippe Mateta’s double secured a crucial victory for Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
The game started at a blistering pace, with Alejandro Garnacho having an early shot blocked and Kobbie Mainoo striking the post. Palace, however, posed an early threat of their own, forcing André Onana into action multiple times within the opening 20 minutes.
As both sides recognised the attacking nature of the match, they gradually tightened up at the back, leading to a cagey remainder of the first half with no clear chances before the break.
United emerged from the dressing room looking more decisive in the final third, but it was Palace who made the breakthrough. Mateta capitalised on a rebound off the crossbar, slotting home to give the visitors the lead.
Rúben Amorim turned to his bench, introducing Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee in an effort to spark a comeback, yet Palace remained resolute. With five minutes to play, Mateta struck again, doubling his tally and putting the result beyond doubt.
Despite a late push from United, Palace stood firm and left Old Trafford with all three points once again.
Ferdinand reacts to United’s latest loss
Once again, United have lost at home against a Premier League side at Old Trafford.
It’s a theme that has plagued United across both permanent managers this season, with Amorim and Erik ten Hag failing to inspire their sides to rise to the occasion when they are in Manchester.
In reaction to Crystal Palace’s second goal of the afternoon, former United defender Rio Ferdinand only had to say two words to encapsulate how he felt about the performance and result.
In the last few months, United have lost at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Brighton, and now Crystal Palace. It’s the same story indeed.
Every fan is thinking the same thing
Ferdinand highlighted the same thought that, unfortunately, almost every United fan will have in their mind, especially those who have headed to Old Trafford each week.
With United raising ticket prices for home games, it’s a slap in the face to see United losing every week, and almost every week, it’s the same story of United failing to get into the box and finish their chances.
Amorim chose to bench both Zirkzee and Højlund for the tie, a decision that has been slammed considering the result, but the truth is the head coach does not have the options to compete with other sides as none of his striker options can provide goals.
United are thought to be closing in on an agreement for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, although the Bundesliga club are playing hardball with their negotiations despite the player’s decision to join.
With the transfer deadline set for Monday evening, United have less than 36 hours to complete their business after signing Arsenal centre-back Ayden Heaven and Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu earlier this week.
