Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has called for his former club to step up their attempts to sign ‘superb’ Premier League attacker, after an impressive performance on the weekend.
Manchester United have certainly improved their attacking capabilities recently, recording one of the highest xg ratings in the league.
The additions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Slovenian Benjamin Sesko have all made a remarkable impact, as the club has now scored 30 goals this season, and currently sits sixth.
Despite a great start, there is room for improvement. The Reds have failed to score in three Premier League games, including a lacklustre defeat to Everton at home recently.
This may be the reason United legend Rio Ferdinand has called for the club to further bolster their attack, and sign Ghanaian attacker after an ‘superb’ showing in his last game.
Ferdinand seeks Semenyo
Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo took charge in the Premier League last season, becoming a household name in FPL teams and recording 19 goals and assists in the league.
His form has continued, despite an injury he sustained on international duty last month. Semenyo is a staple in the Bournemouth attacker and is now in high demand.
Many Premier League clubs have expressed interest in Semenyo’s availability, including Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and, more notably, Manchester United.
According to The Peoples Person, Ferdinand spoke out on X recently about his desire for the club to sign the 25-year-old, commenting, ‘Don’t let him leave after the game.’
The former United defender proceeded further, saying he had ‘mixed emotions on the performance’ and that he’s ‘going for a lie down after that’.
Ferdinand pleased with attacking focus
Since the change in attack from last year, the Reds have been on fire up front, scoring nine in their last three.
Ferdinand expressed his appreciation for the more attacking football style, despite the disappointing draw in yesterday’s game.
“However we’ve been asking for more attacking football this season, team to show fight, flexibility in formation from the manager. We got it all tonight, just not the 3 points.”

The club may look to strengthen the attack even more this winter transfer window, despite the £65 million release clause in his contract, according to Sky Sports.
Whether United choose to add a bit more quality to the squad this January, fans will be hoping for this impressive form remains, as things continue to improve at Old Trafford.
