Rio Ferdinand agrees with Erik ten Hag on one Mason Mount attribute

Mason Mount officially signed for Manchester United on Wednesday morning and Rio Ferdinand is a big fan of the deal.
The midfielder, who reportedly cost United £55 million with an additional £5 million in add-ons, was Erik ten Hag’s main option to bolster the midfield depth at Old Trafford.
After signing the contracts and taking pictures with his new player, Ten Hag was full of praise for the midfielder. “I want you to be a very important player for this team,” he told the 24-year-old.
One of the England international’s main selling points was his pressing ability, with Ten Hag believing that he will be able to carry out specific tactical instructions and lead the press, which is a key component of the Dutchman’s approach.
Ferdinand, 44, has shown his support for the signing and believes that Chelsea, who sold the player who joined the club at six years of age, will ‘regret’ their decision.
The former defender also detailed several attributes that Mount will bring to United, including his intensity off the ball which Ten Hag is a big fan of.
“Really pleased with Mount coming in, [he’s] young, talented and hungry,” tweeted Rio. “He has the experience of big games with pressure which comes when playing for United.”
“As a player he will bring us goals, creativity, a work ethic and a willing runner into the opposition box.
“He definitely adds to what we have in the squad and is different from the others in midfield.
I actually think in time Chelsea will regret selling Mount.”
Ferdinand added a plea for United to now sign a striker. “Now for a no.9…” It is a position that The Reds will undoubtably be aiming to strengthen, alongside a goalkeeper, now that Mount has signed on the dotted line.
