Manchester United will be fined £75,000 by the Football Association following their FA Cup clash against Arsenal on the weekend.

Manchester United won against Arsenal in a dramatic FA Cup third-round clash penalty shootout at the Emirates Stadium.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw after United were pegged down to 10 men mid-way through the second half following Diogo Dalot’s second bookable offence.

Tempers flared when, shortly afterwards, Arsenal were awarded an extremely controversial penalty after Kai Havertz flopped to the ground inside the penalty box.

Harry Maguire, who was in disbelief with the decision, called the German international a “cheating scumbag” and was cautioned shortly afterwards.

Why United face £75,000 fine from the FA

Andy Madley was card-happy during the clash and brandished eight bookings to players across the 120-minute tie.

United had six players cautioned, alongside one of Amorim’s assistants, which has landed the club in more trouble with the FA.

According to TalkSPORT, the Reds will need to pay a £75,000 fine after having six or more players receive bookings during a single game.

It was explained that clubs are sanctioned for receiving six or more bookings in a match, with the fine increasing by £25,000 each time it occurs in a season.

United’s game against The Gunners was the third time this season where they have received six or more yellow cards. Those matches came against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Ugarte could also face ban after Havertz headbutt

The Reds will also be wary about a potential ban for Manuel Ugarte after claims that he head-butted Havertz in the aftermath of the penalty mistake on Sunday.

Former referee Keith Hackett has urged the FA to take action against the Uruguayan midfielder since Madley was unaware of his actions against the German international.

It wasn’t the only thing Madley was unaware of during that clash.

Should Ugarte receive a retrospective ban, it would apply to all domestic competitions and not just the FA Cup, as shown from Dalot’s suspension for the Premier League game against Southampton after his red card.
