There are eight different clubs with registered interest in signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo on loan next term.

Amad, 20, had a successful spell at Sunderland last season. He was influential in their sixth-place finish, scoring 14 goals across the campaign and registering three assists.

Meanwhile, at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag has turned fortunes around but still has work to do. The Reds are expected to have a busy summer, in terms of both outgoings and incomings, yet there are still no significant deals over the line.

With United’s pre-season tour of the US coming next month, it’s likely that Ten Hag will assess whether or not Amad is ready to remain at the club next term, however, reports suggest that another loan is the more likely option.

There are a number of different clubs with registered interest in the talented winger, as well as reported preferences from both United and Amad’s side.

Who’s interested in signing Amad Diallo on loan?

There are eight different clubs with reported interest in signing Amad on a loan deal next season, with those clubs coming from four different leagues: Serie A, the Premier League, the Championship and the Eredivisie.

Feyenoord are one of the clubs with interest in the player, according to a report from 1908nl last month. They were set to sign him on loan in the summer of 2021 before he picked up an injury.

Recent reports from Steve Bates have also stated that Ten Hag is willing to sanction a year-long loan move for Amad to return to Atalanta as a deal-maker in negotiations for Rasmus Hojlund. United have been targeting the Swedish striker for a number of weeks and Amad was purchased from the Italian club three years ago.

Coming back to England, and there is significant interest in the Ivory Coast talent. Premier League clubs such as Everton, West Ham and newly promoted Burnley have interest in a move for the player, according to The Northern Echo.

That report also stated interest from two Championship clubs: West Brom and his former side Sunderland. Whilst a third option in England’s second tier emerged through another report from Steve Bates, who said Leeds United are on the trail of the youngster for a loan deal as they look to improve their wide areas.

What is Amad’s preference?

The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano has stated that Amad’s preference, should he go on loan next season, is a return to the Stadium of Light. The supporters at Sunderland welcomed him greatly and he’d surely be a part of a team challenging at the top end of the table in the Championship if he made the move again.

Manager Tony Mowbray would likely have an impact if any deal was to materialise. He has recently stated that he hopes Sunderland “can keep a close relationship with United”.

What is Manchester United’s preference?

Whilst Amad would prefer a reunion with the Black Cats, the club and Ten Hag have other ideas.

The United manager would like a move to a club in the Premier League or a loan deal abroad, rather than a switch back to the Championship, Steve Bates reported.

This would make sense in terms of development, as Amad looked more than ready to step up a level during his performances last season, whether that be at United or elsewhere.
