Real Betis discover Manchester United’s Antony asking price amid Rúben Amorim’s “very happy” admission

Real Betis have reportedly discovered what Manchester United will demand for Antony’s transfer this summer amid Rúben Amorim’s “very happy” claim about the winger.

The January transfer market saw Manchester United part ways with three first-team players as Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Marcus Rashford all left Rúben Amorim’s squad on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

While Malacia and Rashford are slowly improving at PSV Eindhoven and Aston Villa respectively, it is Antony’s loan that has made headlines following an explosive start to life with La Liga side Real Betis.

In 12 appearances for the Spanish side, Antony has four goals and four assists and has become a complete fan favourite, with former Real Madrid midfielder Isco joking that the club needed to start a fundraising campaign to sign him permanently.

With Antony all but sure to leave United permanently this summer, Betis will no doubt try and negotiate to keep the Brazilian winger beyond this summer.

Betis discover Antony transfer fee

United spent around £85 million on the winger from Ajax in 2022, and they will want to recoup as much as possible for the player in the 2025 summer market.

His amortisation value means United would need to sell the winger for approximately £34 million this summer in order to record any sort of profit on his sale, and according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, United will be demanding around this figure for his deal this summer.

Antony was valued at as little as £15 million toward the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign, but his performances with Betis have skyrocketed his value, with United said to be happy to see the winger performing so well.

The aforementioned report states that Betis will ‘study’ United’s demand closely as the season draws to a close, but a figure of £34 million would represent a club-record fee.

What Amorim said about Antony

On Monday afternoon, United head coach Rúben Amorim was asked about Rashford and Antony’s current form. He was asked if he is keeping an eye on Rashford amid his rise in form of late and compared this to Antony’s Betis performances.

Amorime explained that he is very happy to see that the players United have sent on loan are performing well.

“I know Rashford really well, and everybody knows the talent that he has. So I already spoke about that,” Amorim said. “He’s a top player if he wants. So I’m not surprised.

“And like I said, it’s the same with Antony, it’s a good thing. We see our players doing well on loan in a different context. That can happen, and it’s a good sign for the club… We are really happy for our players that are on loan doing well.”
